VR THA - Hip Surgery Training for Orthopedic Surgeons

 

VR THA (Virtual Reality Total Hip Arthroplasty) developed in Unity, takes orthopedic surgeons in training through an 11-step interactive simulation.

Key Features

My Role - Lead Developer

  • Designed and programmed the checkpoint and feedback system allowing users to progress through each step and get feedback about their accuracy
  • Implemented VR interactions with the surgical tools, anatomy, environment, and locomotion using SteamVR
  • Developed behavior for controlling the visualization of anatomy using HLSL shaders
  • Implemented anatomy assets created by Rowan’s Biomedical artists into Unity for real-time interactions
